At this Duke Ellington–inspired piano showcase, we spotlight three ferociously talented award-winning musicians: Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition semifinalist, 2007 Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead graduate, and 2012 VSA International Young Musicians alumnus Justin Kauflin; Kennedy Center “Next 50” Leader and 2019 VSA International Young Musicians alumnus José André Montaño; and 2018 Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead graduate and 2022 VSA International Young Musicians alumnus Matthew Whitaker.
