Children and families can enjoy an exciting Family Day offering all free activities: film screenings, hands-on crafts, multiple educational giveaways including magazines, coloring sheets, forestry career cards, and free Every Kid Outdoors passes for 4th graders so they can enjoy America’s natural wonders.

Join the US Forest Service for hands-on craft activities such as coloring a leaf rubbing, crafting your own prose with a Poet-Tree pamphlet, and exploring forestry related career trunks including making your own career card. All 4th grade students visiting the festival will also be eligible to receive a free Every Kid Outdoors pass to enjoy America’s natural wonders and the great outdoors. Other giveaways throughout the day will copies of the US Forest Service’s Natural Inquirer magazines, including a special edition about the Forests of the World, and limited editions of the US Forest Service’s new book, Find Your Forest (available in Spanish only). Visit our Youth Book Lounge for a pop-up reading space shelved with books about the environment and wildlife in different languages contributed by embassies in Washington, D.C. Topping off the family fun, enjoy special appearances and photo-ops with Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl!

Quebec-based Théâtre de la Dame de Coeur presents the U.S. premiere of Acupunk, told through giant puppets. Éria and Terrenis, towering at 18 feet tall, will activate the REACH Plaza in a poetic fable about healing the Earth.
