Program

Founded in 2001 by choreographer Shin Chang Ho, Laboratory Dance Project (LDP) is famous for its highly physical, acrobatic choreography. The Korean ensemble blends martial arts, hip hop, and contemporary dance for stunningly unique creations that have brought critical acclaim. LDP is a Grand Prix award-winner at the Seoul International Choreographer Festival, and it now collaborates with European dance companies and performs across the globe.

The company brings two exhilarating works for its Kennedy Center debut. MOB is set to propulsive guitar music and features quick, boisterous movement by the company that will leave your heart racing. Ash features a mixture of percussive, orchestral, and natural sounds, with moments of dramatic intensity that build to swirling group movement. Both works showcase LDP’s signature choreography and rush of energy.

This event is sponsored by the Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C., Embassy of the Republic of Korea.

Quote

“A company that is unabashedly contemporary and global in its perspective but also very much its own creation.”
