Join the National Symphony Orchestra for a FREE performance at Howard University's Cramton Auditorium as NSO Music Director Gianandrea Noseda conducts a program honoring George Walker, a Washington, D.C. native and the first Black composer to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music. The concert closes with Beethoven's elegant, witty Fourth Symphony.

The National Symphony Orchestra presents a FREE performance at Howard University’s Cramton Auditorium!

Join Music Director Gianandrea Noseda and the NSO for a thrilling tribute to George Walker, a Washington, D.C. native and the first Black composer to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music. The program features Walker’s First and Fourth Sinfonias, as well as his Violin Sonata No. 1—performed by his son Gregory Walker with accompaniment by pianist Natalia Kazaryan. Noseda closes the evening with Beethoven’s elegant, witty Fourth Symphony.

Join us after the performance as Anthony Randolph moderates a panel discussion with Mickey Thomas TerryGregory WalkerGianandrea Noseda, and new Kennedy Center Composer-in-Residence Carlos Simon.

Indie icon and NSO Artistic Advisor Ben Folds performs hits and new music for his new live orchestral concert album. Widely regarded as one of the major music influences of our generation, Folds’ enormous body of genre-bending sound includes pop anthems with Ben Folds Five, multiple solo albums, and numerous collaborative records. His latest album, 2023’s What Matters Most, is a blend of piano-driven pop-rock songs, while his 2015 Concerto for Piano and Orchestra soared to #1 on both the Billboard classical and classical crossover charts.
