Elizabeth Cusato Schnobrick joined the National Symphony Orchestra as associate librarian in 2009 and became principal librarian in September 2014. Prior to joining the National Symphony, Elizabeth was associate principal librarian of the Utah Symphony and Opera for four seasons, from 2005 to 2009, and head librarian at the Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, NY for nine summers. She was interim associate principal librarian of the Detroit Symphony for the 2004–2005 season. During the 2002–2004 seasons, Elizabeth was librarian of The Haddonfield Symphony (now Symphony in C), Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, and assistant to the librarian for Opera Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Ballet, and Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia.
Elizabeth is currently co-chair of the Archive committee for the Major Orchestra Librarians' Association, and from 2005 through 2008 she wrote a quarterly column for Marcato, the Journal of the Major Orchestra Librarians' Association.
Originally from Alaska, Elizabeth began her music life as an oboist. She earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Pacific Lutheran University and taught 4th through 12th grade band and orchestra for several years in Washington state and Pennsylvania before becoming an orchestra librarian.
