Alex Robertson

Alex Robertson (b. 2007) is a composer and conductor based in New York City. Currently, he studies composition under the guidance of Manuel Sosa at the Juilliard School of Music Pre-College. Alex's body of work includes numerous compositions for orchestra, chamber ensembles, and solo instruments. His compositions have been performed by such ensembles as the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America, the Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, the BUTI Young Artists Orchestra, and the New York Youth Symphony, among others. Some recent awards he has received include being a 2024 National YoungArts Winner in Classical Music Composition, and a winner of the 2024 ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Award. He has recently been commissioned to write works for the Pacific Symphony and the Kennedy Center, among others.

In addition to his accomplishments as a composer, Alex has worked extensively as a conductor. He has led various ensembles at esteemed institutions and festivals, including Tanglewood, the Juilliard School, and the Kinhaven Summer Festival. Alex also founded the Antiphon Chamber Orchestra, where he serves as the music director.
