Chief Moomen
Chief Moomen is poet, playwright, creative entrepreneur, and a 2024 Eisenhower global fellow.
He is one of the pioneering and outstanding contemporary performance poets from Ghana who has been in active practice for almost two decades. He has featured extensively on both national and international platforms, from indie shows with fellow artists to high-profile events. He’s shared the stage with heads of state, heads of international agencies, and major business and cultural leaders on platforms of the Ghanaian state, the African Union, UNESCO, Expo Dubai, COP28 Dubai, major corporations, and many others.
Moomen is an acclaimed playwright and theater producer, renowned for his massive theatrical spectacles. He is the creator of The Mansa World, one of the ambitious storytelling projects from Africa producing major content across various genres for global audiences and seeking to greatly improve the continent’s creative economy. But the spoken word remains his first love.
Chief Moomen believes in the power of the arts to heal, inspire and transform people and nations. His work draws on West African griot traditions and contemporary styles and often celebrates the interconnectedness of the human experience.
