Ben Mizrach

Ben Mizrach is a saxophonist, composer, bandleader, and educator hailing from Westfield, New Jersey. On the alto saxophone, Mizrach is an intensely eloquent storyteller with an ever-expanding collection of textures to offer on top of his rich and alluring tone. As a white student studying jazz music at the New England Conservatory, Ben quickly recognized an irony at place in jazz education: A primarily white student body attempting to academically understand the unique Black American music that is jazz. Through his compositions written alongside Harrison Clark in Almanac, Ben attempts to expose and grapple with these racial and cultural incongruities present in music today.
