NexGenFriends

Volunteers 40 and under Carrying the Torch of Volunteering Forward

NexGenFriends are individuals 40 and under who volunteer at the Kennedy Center, serving as  Festival/Event Friends or on a weekly basis as Friends of the Kennedy Center. NexGenFriends are dedicated to representing the Friends volunteer corps both to Kennedy Center staff and to the community at large by educating target audiences to services the Friends volunteers provide the Kennedy Center.
NexGenFriends also bring a voice regarding Millennial and Gen Z perspectives about volunteer support and the performing arts.
Other special opportunities for young professionals to experience the Kennedy Center include Washington National Opera Bravo and the MyTix discount program.

The Next Generation of Friends

"When tossing around possible names at an outreach meeting, 'NexGenFriends' just popped into my head! We were discussing the motivations of any individual, regardless of age, to volunteer at the Kennedy Center. Everyone agreed that a love of the arts, and a belief that giving back as a volunteer feeds the soul, was a commonality among all Friends, and that passing the love for the arts and volunteering to the next generation is an important part of our motivation as well."
