Join legendary jazz pianist, composer and educator Dr. Billy Taylor and his trio (Chip Jackson on bass and Steve Johns on drums) and special guest trumpet player and composer Terence Blanchard as they explore the the role of jazz in film scores. Blanchard discusses coaching Denzel Washington in "Mo' Better Blues," scoring the films "Till There Was You," Spike Lee's "Jungle Fever," and demonstrates the evolution of a melody he wrote for Lee's film "Malcolm X." The group also performs jazz standards, including "Jordu," and Miles Davis' "Four" (recorded in 1997 at C. D. Hylton High School in Woodbridge, VA).
