Ethan Vincent

American baritone Ethan Vincent launches his 2022-2023 season as soloist in Orff's Carmina Burana for the Columbus Symphony Orchestra's opening night concert before joining the San Francisco Opera to cover the role of Germont in La Traviata conducted by Eun Sun Kim with direction by Shawna Lucey. He makes his Boston Youth Symphony debut singing Méphistophélès in Berlioz's La damnation de Faust led by music director Federico Cortese. Mr. Vincent returns to La bohème to reprise the roles of Schaunard with the Berkshire Opera Festival and Marcello with Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera. Mr. Vincent debuts with Opera Philadelphia for a series of performances including Carmina Burana and Margaret Bonds’ Credo conducted by Lina Gonzalez-Granados, an Emerging Artist recital, and a guest appearance on their spring Opera Gala.

He joins the Los Angeles Philharmonic to cover the roles of both Ned Peters and Clarence for performances as well as recordings of Girls of the Golden West conducted by composer John Adams. Highlights of previous seasons include singing the role of Riolobo in Daniel Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas at Lyric Opera of Chicago conducted by Jordan de Souza; Don Fernando in Fidelio with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel with direction by Alberto Arvelo and Joaquín Solano; Marcello in La bohème with the Columbus Symphony under conductor Rossen Milanov and staged by James Marvel; Schaunard in La bohème with Cincinnati Opera; role debuts as Jauno in West Side Story with the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Yannick Ne虂zet-Se虂guin; Joseph De Rocher in the Chicago premiere of Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking; Belcore in L’elisir d’amore at Indianapolis Opera; he joined the Lyric Opera of Chicago to cover the role of Count Tomsky in The Queen of Spades; sang the role of Behike in the North American premiere of Hatuey: A Memory of Fire in collaboration with the Peak Performance series; and made his debut as Germont in La Traviata with Martha Cardona Opera at Merkin Hall in New York; and Billy Bigelow in Carousel with Indianapolis Opera.

In concert, Mr. Vincent appeared with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra performing El Niño by John Adams with the composer on the podium, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in Handel’s Messiah conducted by Ken-David Masur, and two Rachmaninoff engagements at Bard SummerScape led by Leon Botstein: baritone soloist in The Bells and portraying Duke in The Miserly Knight. Mr. Vincent has recently appeared with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Santa Fe Opera,  Milwaukee Symphony, San Diego Opera, and Cincinnati Opera, with conductors  Yannick Ne虂zet-Se虂guin, Gustavo Dudamel, Jordan de Souza, Nicholas Carter, Roberto Kalb, Mark Gibson, Rossen Milanov, and Ken-David Masur.

In addition to his operatic credits, he can be seen in the featured role of Ce虂sar in the acclaimed film Bel Canto alongside Academy Award winner Julianne Moore and Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe. Mr. Vincent holds both a B.A. and M.A. in Voice Performance from Northwestern University.
