Reiko Sudo

Born in Ishioka, Ibaraki Prefecture, Reiko Sudo is Design Director, Nuno Corporation, and Professor Emeritus, Tokyo Zokei University. Known for her innovative command of diverse textile processes ranging from traditional weaving and dyeing techniques to contemporary high-end technologies, Sudo has over the last 40 years created numerous works now in the permanent collections of MoMA, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Victoria & Albert Museum, National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, and many other institutions worldwide. Since 2008, textile design advisor to Ryohin Keikaku, Tsuruoka Textile Industry Cooperative, Yamagata Prefecture, AS Corporation, and other enterprises. Since 2016, has served on Ryohin Keikaku’s Advisory Board. Recipient of the Roscoe Award, Japan Interior Designers Association Award, Mainichi Design Award, Enku Grand Prize, Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for Art Encouragement, and other honours.
