Pua Ali’i ‘llima

Pua Ali‘i ‘Ilima (The Royal ‘Ilima Blossom) is the h?lau hula (school of traditional Hawaiian dance) founded by Vicky Holt Takamine in 1977. The h?lau was named by Vicky’s kumu hula, Maiki Aiu Lake, and means the Royal ‘Ilima Blossom. This title alludes to her graduation from Maiki’s Papa ‘Ilima, the ‘ilima class, and her role as a descendant from Hawaiian royalty. The h?lau participates in cultural festivals and events throughout Hawai‘i and the world, including the Prince Lot Hula Festival in Honolulu, Hawai‘i and the Pan Pacific Festival in Tokyo, Japan. Under the direction of n? kumu hula (masters of Hawaiian dance) Vicky Holt Takamine and Jeffrey K?nekaiwilani Takamine celebrate 35 years of Pua Ali‘i ‘Ilima with presentations of hula kahiko (ancient style Hawaiian dance) and hula 'auana (modern style Hawaiian dance) with special guestSemperforming k?ho'alu (slack key guitar) and Hawaiian style steel (slide) guitar.
