Taylor-Alexis DuPont
Hailed by The Washington Post as a singer with a "beautifully rich and spirited" voice, mezzo-soprano Taylor-Alexis DuPont has performed with companies such as the Metropolitan Opera, Washington National Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Florida Grand Opera, the Glimmerglass Festival, Prototype Festival, Virginia Opera, and Heartbeat Opera. DuPont was the first prize winner of the 2023 Lotte Lenya Competition and the recipient of the inaugural Rebecca Luker Award from the Kurt Weill Foundation in 2021. Her 2023–2024 season includes the world premiere of Rene Orth’s 10 Days in a Madhouse (Lizzie, cover) with Opera Philadelphia as well as the highly anticipated premiere of Layale Chaker’s Ruinous Gods (Hannah) with the Spoleto Festival, her role debut in Florida Grand Opera’s production of La bohème (Musetta), and La traviata (Flora) with Cincinnati Opera.
Performance highlights include The Passion of Mary Cardwell Dawson (Phoebe) with Washington National Opera, Taking Up Serpents (Reba/Young Mother), and the world premiere of Damien Geter's Holy Ground (Archangel Gabriel) with the Glimmerglass Festival, performing in the Grammy Award®–winning production of Porgy and Bess with the Metropolitan Opera, La traviata (Flora) with Florida Grand Opera and Virginia Opera, Mahagonny-Songspiel (Bessie) and Luisa Fernanda (title role) with the Florentine Opera, and A Midsummer Night's Dream (Moth) with Santa Fe Opera.
DuPont began her musical studies with her first mentor Manny Lujan. DuPont holds degrees from Florida State University where she studied with David Okerlund, and Peabody Conservatory where she studied with Denyce Graves.
