Kaimana Chee

A cultural ambassador in his own right, Kumu Hula (master instructor) Kaimana Chee has been teaching hula for over 30 years. Performances of Hawaiian mele (song), hula (dance), and oli (chant) have taken him across the globe - venues include the National Museum of the American Indian (DC & NYC), Singapore’s Esplanade Performing Arts Venue, and Carnegie Hall. Kumu Kaimana’s haumana (student base) spans across the continental U.S., Hawai’i, Singapore and Japan.  In 2014, Kumu Kaimana founded Halau Nohona Hawai’i, a non-profit Hawaiian cultural school based in Silver Spring, MD.  The organization has performed across the DMV providing hula performances, demonstrations and workshops to educate and promote Hawaiian cultural arts. In addition to Hawaiian performing arts, Kumu Kaimana is also a world-renowned chef and has cooked and facilitated speaking engagements across the globe. He is an established Chef Ambassador with a passion for storytelling through food, culture and music with a personal farm-to-table philosophy. In addition, Kaimana is a former IT professional with the ability to increase process efficiency by leveraging technology to streamline operations.
