Amy Belfi Psychologist
Dr. Amy Belfi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychological Science at Missouri University of Science and Technology. She received her B.A. in Psychology from St. Olaf College, her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Iowa, and completed postdoctoral training at New York University. Her research focuses on how music influences our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In her work, she aims to answer questions such as: Why do we like music? How does music connect to memories from our life? Is music special in any way? The results of her research suggest that music is an especially powerful tool for eliciting some of our strongest emotions and memories. She is a recent recipient of the Rising Star Award from the Association for Psychological Science and serves as Editor of the journal Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts.
